The “Shroud of Turin” has been cloaked in mystery and surrounded in controversy. Is it a forgery or the authentic burial cloth of Jesus Christ? In this fascinating story, the bishop of Turin believes the real shroud has been stolen and replaced with a duplicate. Martin Daniels offers to track down the original shroud with the help of his friend and former CIA agent, Leif Carlson. Their adventure takes them around northern Italy uncovering unsavory secrets along their search for truth.

On September 14, 1578 a very unusual linen cloth was moved from a small obscure church in Lirey, France to Turin Italy. Today that same linen can be found in the Royal Chapel at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Turin. To this day, a debate over the origin of the cryptic linen carries on. Many believers claim the cloth is the burial shroud that wrapped the body of Jesus Christ. They say the faint image impressed on the linen is that of the Messiah himself imprinted at the moment of his Resurrection. However, many others believe this cloth is simply a clever forgery created in the Middle Ages. Those who disclaim it point to the radio-carbon dating done on the artifact in 1988, which suggested the cloth’s fibers were grown between 1260-1390. This is a detailed story of what may have happened. Is it a plausible account of the Shroud’s true history? You’ll have to decide that for yourself.
